Ezi-Melt FAQs

Generally, use about 1kg of Ezi-Melt for de-icing 5 square metres, or 54 square feet. To clear deeper snow and ice, you may need to use a little more.

The melting action of salt forms brine at the point where the ice meets the ground. This brine layer prevents water from freezing into ice and bonding to the pavement.

Absolutely not. Ezi-Melt gritting salt is 99% sodium chloride (pure salt) with 1% natural anti-caking agent added to prevent the crystals from clumping together.

You should only use Ezi-Melt gritting salt to clear ice and snow from hard surfaces. When ice and snow has thawed, dilute Ezi-Melt (brine) will run into the surrounding areas, but when used as directed, it won't harm surrounding vegetation. You should not put Ezi-Melt directly onto any vegetation.

Damage to concrete occurs not from the effects of the salt but from the effects of the freezing point of water. When the freezing point of water is lowered (by creating a brine), the number of freeze/thaw cycles increases and the expansion of freezing water can exceed the strength of the concrete.

Don't worry. It's no use crying over spilt salt. Just sweep it up and carry on applying the product.

Ezi-Melt is a pure, white, de-icing salt. When the weather thaws, Ezi-Melt will turn into brine with the meltwater and disappear. Unlike road grit, it won't leave a staining residue.

Definitely. Ezi-Melt is just as effective at preventing ice formation as it is at clearing it. Just apply Ezi-Melt a short while before any ice or snow is expected.

Ezi-Melt has been conveniently packaged for quick use around the home or workplace, to quickly clear ice and snow from steps, paths and driveways - any hard surface where people or vehicles are likely to go, but don't apply it directly to vegetation.
